2018 Free Dental Treatment, Health Talk and Health Check in Akwukwu-Igbo, Oshimili North Local Government Area, Delta State
In line with its creed, “caring is our calling” the Acts of Kindness Humanitarian Organisation, penultimate Saturday offered a comprehensive free dental treatment, blood sugar, blood pressure screening, health education and general health care to residents of Akwukwu-Igbo and environs in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria.
Health Talk Focus
The health talk which centered on diabetes, hypertension and good hygiene was delivered by Mrs. Amaka Okpunwa, an erudite Matron from Abuja General Hospital. She admonished the people to live a good lifestyle and eat home grown foods laced with vegetables and eat more fruits. She said that hypertension is a silent killer which accounts for most of the sudden deaths in today’s world. She also advised parents to devote more time for their children in order to avoid unpleasant health outcome. She averred that most parents today, careless about their food pattern; as most families now indulged in the consumption of synthetic foods (junk) as a status symbol which unfortunately is the cause of diabetes even in children. Matron Florence Chinedu Konjerry assisted in breaking down the health talk for ease of comprehension for some of semi illiterate among the participants.
